Clear cut explainer on the history and significance of Pride Month and what is LGBTIQ :-

12.42 to 17.20

1. In 1969, the New York Police Department  used to do regular raids in Manhattan's gay bars, raids to threaten, raids to beat up, raids to humiliate and raids to arrest. Back in those days, the rest of the society never really cared about the plight that the LGBTQIA community suffered and no one really revolted against the repeated torcher on them.

2. But soon things began to change. At a bar called Stonewall Inn in New York, the NYPD as usual barged in to raid the place but for the first time, the cops witnessed resistance from the people.

3. This was the first retaliation against the age old humiliation that gave birth to the movement which is comemorated today as The Pride Month.

4. So in the LGBTQIA umbrealla term, IA stands for intersex and asexual. Now there are enough identities which can break the performativity of our gender, for example, a girl can have short hair, a boy can wear a skirt, a girl can wear sneakers along with a saree, a boy can have his nose or ears pierced.

5.  Now, desires in a human ecosystem mixes the glitches of human feelings and our identity is just that. There have been thousands of known cases throughout the world where after years of marriage, the husband or wife came out as gay or lesbian. This can happen even at a very young age as well.

6. In Moscow, The Pride Month is celebrated in May because in 1993, Russian decriminalised homosexuality.

So, instead of shaming and hating others this pride month, lets paint the world in rainbow !
