The reconstruction of Pamban Bridge has gathered pace. India’s first vertical lift railway sea bridge will connect the mainland of Tamil Nadu with Rameswaram island.

The reconstruction work on the new 2.05-km Pamban railway bridge has gathered steam. India’s first vertical lift railway sea bridge will connect Rameswaram island to India's mainland in Tamil Nadu, and 84% of the work has been completed so far.

According to a Ministry of Railways release, sub-structure work has been fully completed, which includes 333 piles and 101 pile caps. Fabrication of all 99 approach spans is also complete, of which 76 girders have been launched | Photo: PIB
