Here’s a look at some of the factors, including its detachable battery and keyless entry, that help the Ridge Plus electric scooter stand out

Gurugram-based electric scooter manufacturer Okinawa has introduced a new variant to the Ridge lineup. Called the Ridge Plus (stylised as Ridge+), the new e-scooter is priced at Rs 64,988, which makes it a whopping Rs 21,000 more expensive than the lead-acid battery-powered Ridge. That said, let's take a closer look at the Ridge Plus to see if it’s worth the extra money.
No Design Changes

The first major thing you’d notice about the Okinawa Ridge Plus, or won’t, is the lack of any design changes. It still sports the same sleek design with distinctive headlamps at the front (no LEDs here). However, Okinawa does offer two new colours for the Ridge Plus - orange/grey and blue.
Feature-loaded

Along with an all-digital instrument console, Okinawa has equipped the Ridge Plus with some interesting set of features. This includes an anti-theft alarm system, keyless entry, ‘find my scooter’ functionality and an electronic-assisted braking system.
Gets A Detachable Lithium-ion Battery

Unlike the Okinawa Ridge, which is offered with the option of both a lead-acid VRLA battery as well as a lithium-ion unit, the Ridge Plus gets a lithium-ion battery as standard. The best part about the new battery is that it can be detached from the scooter and charged separately, making it similar to the Ionex system we've seen on Kymco scooters. Okinawa says the battery can be charged from zero to 100 per cent in a matter of 4 to 5 hours.
120km Claimed Range

Yes, you read that right! Okinawa claims this 800 Watt battery can power the scooter for a distance of 120km without needing to be plugged in. However, considering these figures are subjected to the mode you've selected and the speeds you’re riding in, we suspect you’d run out of juice much earlier. Incidentally, the Ridge Plus has a claimed top speed of 50kmph. Nonetheless, if the company’s claims are true, these figures are pretty impressive as the only other comparable e-scooter, the Ather 450, has a range of 60-70km in real-world conditions.
