Woman Finds McDonald’s Burger In Wardrobe 5 Years After She Bought It. It Still Looks The Same

Megan Condry, a receptionist, had intentionally kept the burger in her wardrobe as an experiment initially, but forgot about it later.

New Delhi: A woman in Washington DC found a McDonald’s cheeseburger in her wardrobe five years after she had bought it and kept it there. And it looked exactly the same as a fresh one.

Megan Condry, a receptionist, had intentionally kept the burger as an experiment initially but forgot about it later, The Sun quoted her as saying.

Recently, when she was rummaging through her wardrobe looking for something, she found the preserved cheeseburger, which was in a perfect shape — only it had become too hard.

Condry said the burger didn’t smell bad and looked “the same as the day I bought it”.

But it was “rock hard, as hard as a hockey puck”. “I could probably smash a window with it,” she told The Sun.

It is, however, not the first time that it has been alleged that McDonald’s burgers don’t decompose.

In a blog post, titled ‘Response to myth that McDonald’s burgers do not decompose’, the company explained that the burgers do decompose but under “certain conditions”.

“In the right environment, our burgers, like most other foods, could decompose. But, in order to decompose, you need certain conditions – specifically moisture,” it said.

“Without sufficient moisture – either in the food itself or the environment – bacteria and mould may not grow and therefore, decomposition is unlikely.”

Meanwhile, Condry plans to continue her experiment. She has placed the burger back in the cupboard and plans to check on it again after another five years, The Sun reported.

"I'm going to put it back in the closet and see if it dies or changes or disappears," she said.
