Maharashtra: Man Ties E-Scooter To Donkey, Parades It Across Town. Here’s Why
Maharashtra: He tied the two-wheeler to a donkey and pulled it on the road with banners reading, “Beware of this fraudulent company, Ola”, and “Do not buy two-wheelers of Ola Company.”
New Delhi: While the government has been pushing for electric vehicles, the shift can only take place if the consumers trust that it would benefit them to invest in a non-conventional vehicle. However, a video of an incident from the Beed district of Maharashtra, doing the rounds on social media, shows a man tying his Ola e-scooter to a donkey and parading it around the town with posters urging people not to trust the company.
Sachin Gitte from Parli bought an Ola electric two-wheeler and it was delivered to him on March 24. He had made the initial payment of Rs 20,000 in September 2021 and the final payment of Rs 65,000 in January 2022. However, the scooter stopped working after six days.
When Gitte approached the company, a mechanic arrived, but the two-wheeler was not fixed. After getting vague answers from the customer care service, Gitte decided to protest in this unique manner on Sunday, April 24.
He tied the two-wheeler to a donkey and pulled it on the road with banners reading, “Beware of this fraudulent company, Ola”, and “Do not buy two-wheelers of Ola Company.”
The protest caused a stir in the Parli area and the video of Gitte with the two-wheeler and donkey soon went viral on social media.

Complaint To Consumer Forum
After being dejected and not getting any assurance from Ola, Gitte filed a complaint in the Consumer Forum. Gitte also urged the government to investigate the matter.
“As there is no financial protection for consumers from Ola, which deals in thousands of crores of rupees, the government should investigate the company and take action,” Gitte said.
Recently, Ola announced a recall of 1,441 of its electric two-wheelers after an incident of vehicles catching fire. “These scooters will be inspected by our service engineers and will go through a thorough diagnostics across all battery systems, thermal systems as well as the safety systems,” the company announced on Sunday.
