Cat 'Graduates' From University Of Texas After Attending All Zoom Lectures With Her Owner

Francesca Bourdier, a University of Texas graduate student, was not alone when taking online classes, as her pet cat, Suki, would sit and accompany her in all classes.

Since the coronavirus outbreak, everyone has learned new ways to manage work and study from home. Office goers embraced the transition of work from home, students also adapted to new ways of attending classes virtually. As many moments with students attending online classes have gone viral during the pandemic, now an incident post-pandemic is grabbing headlines for all the 'furry' reasons.

According to Fox5, the University of Texas at Austin had an "honorary student" graduating alongside the spring class of 2022 graduating — A one-and-a-half-year-old cat named Suki.

Francesca Bourdier, a University of Texas graduate student, was not alone when taking online classes, as her pet cat, Suki, would sit and accompany her in all classes. Due to the pandemic, Francesca attended most of her college classes at home on Zoom with her cat by her side.

And to ensure that Francesca was not alone in graduating and achieving the milestone, she also brought in her cat Suki for the special occasion.

"Whenever I would have my Zoom lecture on, it's like she almost wanted to listen in on it, and she would always just sit by my laptop," said Bourdier as per Fox5.

Since the cat attended every online class, Bourdier included Suki during the graduation ceremony.

"I kind of wanted to celebrate her and kind of have her along with me," she told Fox5.

Bourdier purchased the graduation attire, cap and gown, for Suki as well. Bourdier wanted to honour her cat as a member of the University of Texas’s Graduating Class.

Bourdier also shared heartwarming photos of herself and her pet cat properly attired for the graduation ceremony.

In the caption, she wrote, “My cat attended every zoom lecture I had so we will BOTH be graduating from THE University of Texas at Austin together.”
