A 2009-batch IAS officer took to micro-blogging site Twitter and shared an image of the officer named Keerthi Jalli who is leading the rescue work in flood-hit Assam's Cachar district.

Dispur: Amid the devastating pre-monsoon floods that disrupted normal life in Assam, images of an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer is going viral on social media that shows her with muddied feet, yet smiling as she's standing in a boat alongside another woman Cachar district. The horrific flood has so far costed 30 lives in the northeastern state with over 5 lakh being affected in the state's 12 districts.

Though the situation in flood-hit state saw some marginal improvement, the Army, the Indian Air Force (IAF), the Assam Rifles, various para-military forces, the National Disaster Response Force, and the State Disaster Response Force, Civil Defence along with the district administrations continue to work round the clock to rescue the stranded people.

Amid all this, a 2009-batch IAS officer took to micro-blogging site Twitter and shared an image of the officer named Keerthi Jalli who is leading the rescue work in flood-hit Assam's Cachar district. While sharing her image, Awanish Sharan, applauded her efforts by tweeting: "Keerthi Jalli IAS, Deputy Commissioner Cachar," followed by a folded hand emoji.

The post by Sharan soon went viral on Twitter and several users praised Jalli for her exceptional work. The time this article was being published the tweet had garnered over 3,500 retweets and over 45,000 likes.

This is not for the first time the IAS officer has been lauded for her out of the way work. Even in 2020 she garnered significant amount of praise when she refused to take leave even for a day for her marriage and instead the groom flew in for the ceremony.

Jalli told her family and friends when she told them that she could not make it to her home in Hyderabad for her wedding as she was leading the fight against the coronavirus pandemic from the front in Assam's Cachar district.

A day after her marriage, Jalli attended office and visited the Silchar Medical College Hospital to take stock of the hospital infrastructure amid the spike in Covid-19 cases in the Barak valley.

The 2013-batch IAS officer is working in the capacity of Deputy Commissioner of Assam's Cachar district.

Even in her earlier posting in neighbouring Hailakandi, Jalli was known for her commendable work related to healthcare, women welfare and bringing harmony between communities.
