Acid Attack Survivor, Peon's Daughter Tops School With 95.20% In CBSE Class 10 Exams

New Delhi: Kafi, a 15-year-old acid attack survivor, from Chandigarh's Institute of Blind became the topper of her school after scoring 95.2 per cent in her CBSE Class 10 results. Kafi was just three years old when she was attacked by three neighbors living in the village of Budhana, Hisar.

Kafi lost her eyesight and suffered severe burns on her face and arms from the attack.

While speaking to ANI, Kafi said that she studied for 5-6 hours a day and that her parents have been her biggest support. She said that she dreams of becoming an IAS officer one day. 

"I studied for 5-6 hours every day. My parents and teachers supported me a lot. I want to become an IAS officer and serve my country," she told ANI. 

Kafi's father got her admitted to Delhi AIIMS for treatment, where doctors told the family that Kafi would remain blind for the rest of her life, according to a report by India Today.

Speaking about the dreadful day when Kafi was attacked, her father, who works as a peon in Chandigarh's Secretariat, said that the incident took place on Holi when some of her neighbours attacked her with acid, causing her to lose her eyesight. 

Pawan said that he faced many challenges but he had to overcome them all to educate his daughter. 

"When Kafi was 3 years old, our neighbours attacked her with acid after which she lost her eyesight. I faced many difficulties but I overcame all challenges and educated my daughter. She wants to prepare for IAS and I am supporting her," Pawan told ANI.
