According to Liaquat, love between them began to bloom during their causal morning walks in Lahore. Liaquat, who is almost 50 years older than his wife said that he met Shumaila during daily morning walks and their affair began when he decided to sing a song while jogging behind her. Shumaila's husband Liaquat was also of the same view and said “Age is not a factor when it comes to romance. There is no question about someone being old or young. Anyone who is legally allowed to marry can marry."
