PM Modi To Unveil Projects Worth Rs 11,600 Cr In Development Push For Assam Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Guwahati on Saturday for a two-day visit, during which he would meet with the BJP's state core committee and launch development projects worth around Rs 11,600 crore, news agency PTI reported. Modi will attend a public gathering at 11.30 a.m. on Sunday at the Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara, where he will launch various state and central projects.

The foundation stones will be laid for several major projects, including the Kamakhya temple corridor (Rs 498 crore), the six-lane road from the new airport terminal (Rs 358 crore) in Guwahati, the upgrade of Nehru Stadium to FIFA standards (Rs 831 crore), and a new sports complex in Chandrapur (Rs 300 crore).

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the second edition of Asom Mala roads. This phase would include 43 new roads and 38 concrete bridges, with a total investment of Rs 3,444 crore.
Modi will also lay the groundwork for an integrated new facility for the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, which would cost Rs 3,250 crore to construct.
He will also lay the groundwork for the projected Karimganj Medical College and Hospital, which would cost Rs 578 crore, and the Rs 297 crore Unity Mall in Guwahati.
Modi will also open a freshly completed four-lane road from Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur, which cost Rs 1,451 crore, and another four-lane road from Dolabari to Jamuguri, which cost Rs 592 crore.
"In total, the Prime Minister will lay foundation stones or inaugurate projects worth Rs 11,599 crore, funded by both state government and the Centre," Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was quoted by PTI in its report.
PM Modi is scheduled to return after the programme on Sunday.
