'PhD From BJP WhatsApp University': Congress's Gaurav Gogoi Slams Amit Shah Over Nehru Remark

Gaurav Gogoi has teared into Amit Shah over his remark on Jawaharlal Nehru and his Kashmir decisions, saying that the Home Minister did his PhD on the Former PM from 'BJP's WhatsApp University'.

Guwahati: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has taken a dig at Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his remarks against India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. The Deputy Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, Gogoi, said that Home Minister Shah has proved that he has done a PhD on Jawaharlal Nehru from the Bharatiya Janata Party’s WhatsApp University. In a late-night post on social media platform X, MP Gogoi wrote, “Home Minister Amit Shah today proved in Parliament that he has done a PhD on Pandit Nehru from the BJP WhatsApp University.”

In response to Home Minister Shah’s comment on Jawaharlal Nehru's Kashmir decisions, the MP from Assam’s Kaliabor Lok Sabha constituency Gogoi said that this is the new education policy of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“This is the new education policy of the RSS BJP,” Gogoi added in his post on X.

On the other hand, Congress General Secretary (Communication) and Rajya Sabha MP, Jairam Ramesh, said that Home Minister Shah deliberately made provocative and blatantly false statements on Jawaharlal Nehru’s role in Jammu and Kashmir in 1947 and 1948.

“Today in the Lok Sabha, the Home Minister made deliberately provocative and blatantly false statements on Nehru’s role in J&K in 1947 and 1948. Dr. Farooq Abdullah immediately called out the Distorian masquerading as a pseudo-historian,” MP Ramesh wrote in a post on X.

MP Ramesh, while saying that these are tactics to derail the Congress and INDIA’s narratives, urged that one should not fall into Amit Shah’s trap.

“These are tactics to derail the Congress and INDIA’s narratives, and I for one will not fall into the Shah trap. His office should get him to read Chandrasekhar Dasgupta's masterly book, ‘War and Diplomacy in Kashmir,’ in which many such myths have been exposed,” the Rajya Sabha MP from Karnataka, Ramesh, added in his post on X.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while supporting Home Minister Shah’s remarks said that the latter has shown Congress the mirror that the Kashmir issue is still lingering due to Nehruvian blunders.

“Adarniya Amit Shah ji has shown Cong the mirror-the Kashmir issue is still lingering due to Nehruvian blunders of a ceasefire and taking matters to the UN. Thankfully, the people of Bharat chose Modi ji in 2014 to rectify several such historical wrongdoings,” Chief Minister Sarma wrote in a post on X.

Earlier on Wednesday, Home Minister Shah said that had Jawaharlal Nehru taken the right decisions, a major portion of territory would not have been conceded and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) would have been a part of India. The Home Minister said that due to the blunder that was committed during Jawaharlal Nehru’s time, Kashmir had to suffer.
