Manipur Viral Video: Congress, Students Stage Protests Across Tamil Nadu Against BJP
DMK's women wing is set to hold a protest against the issue in Chennai on July 23.
Political parties and students gathered in large numbers to stage a protest condemning the violence against women in Manipur. During the protest, they demanded justice and the dismissal of the state government. A group of students even took to a rail roko that affected the movement of the trains.
According to PTI, students held protests over Manipur situation by blocking railway tracks in Chennai. Over 50 students carrying placards raised slogans condemning the accused. Blocking the suburban train traveling to Arakkoman, they urged the central government to control the violence in Manipur, as per a report on Indian Express.
The protest took place around 3 PM. However, the students were dispersed after the police and railway officials intervened and pacified the protestors.
No complaint was registered against the students, said the report.

Tamil Nadu Youth Congress too staged a protest in Chennai on Friday condemning Manipur violence. The protesters held 'Save Manipur' placards and raised slogans against the state and the Central government.
During the protest, Youth Congress TN president Lenin Prasath as per PTI alleged, "Not only in Manipur but in several other parts of the country, weaker sections including the Dalits and minorities were being oppressed by the Saffron party."
Justice must be given to the victims, he said adding that the perpetrators of the crime should be hanged to death.
"Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh must have already resigned. He has, however, not done that. The state government must hence be dismissed by the Centre and President's rule must be imposed," he told reporters.
Meanwhile, DMK's women wing is set to hold protest against the issue in Chennai on July 23.
