According to an official order, the SPs in charge of Nagaon and Lakhimpur districts, where the SI Junmoni Rabha worked and cases related to her were filed, were transferred to new locations.

Amidst an ongoing probe into the death of a woman sub-inspector Junmoni Rabha, Assam government on Saturday carried out a major reshuffle in the state police department wherein various police officers were transferred.

Earlier on Tuesday, a woman sub-inspector of Assam Police, who was embroiled in several controversies, was killed after her car collided head-on with a container truck in Nagaon district. The accident occurred at Sarubhugia village under Jakhalabandha police station of Kaliabor Sub-Division. Junmoni Rabha, 30, also known as 'Lady Singham' or 'Dabang cop' after Hindi police movies, was alone in her private car and not in uniform.

The Assam Police on Saturday has recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the death of the woman police sub-inspector.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Assam Police was initially entrusted with the inquiry.

Suspecting foul play, her family demanded an impartial probe into the accident. Speaking to the media, the deceased's mother Sumitra Rabha had alleged that it was a case of pre-planned murder “by some unidentified racket". She along with Junmoni's aunt Subarna Bodo had appealed to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to conduct an impartial enquiry into the matter and to give justice to the family by punishing the perpetrators of the "planfully created" accident.
