Two-Year-Old Boy Among 2 Killed In Knife Attack In Germany's Aschaffenburg, Afghan Suspect Held
A two-year-old boy and a 41-year-old man were killed on Wednesday in a knife attack in Germany's Aschaffenburg. A 28-year-old man from Afghanistan has been arrested by the police.

Two people, including a toddler were killed in a knife attack in Germany's Aschaffenburg city on Wednesday. Two others were seriously injured in the attack and are receiving treatment at a hospital. The deceased include a two-year-old boy and a man aged 41.
Following the incident, police arrested a 28-year-old man hailing from Afghanistan. The suspect was spotted close to the crime scene, police stated on X, without revealing anything about the potential motive behind the knife attack, AFP reported.
After the police received information, a large team of officers were deployed and the area was cordoned off. The suspect was then detained at the scene in Schoental park, an English-style garden in the Bavarian city, where the incident took place.
Police said that there was no indication of the involvement of any further suspects and that there was no danger to the public. The police also stated that the motive behind the attack was unknown, but ruled out that it was not terrorism.
According to German news agency dpa, the train services in the town were hit after the suspect attempted to flee along the tracks. However, the police managed to detain him quickly. The knife used in the attack has also been recovered.
No details of the victims or the suspect have been released. Later, the police, in a post on X, said that the Schoental Park remains cordoned off and that the rail traffic has been suspended temporarily.
The incident comes after a Saudi doctor was arrested for ramming his car into a Christmas market in the city of Magdeburg on December 20, killing six people and leaving nearly 200 others injured.
He deliberately drove into the bustling market, knocking people to the ground with his speeding car. The 50-year-old man from Saudi Arabia was arrested on the spot. He was identified as a doctor, who had been practicing medicine in Bernburg, which is 40 kilometres south of Magdeburg.
