Three Buses Explode In Tel Aviv In Suspected Terror Attack, No Casualties Reported

In a 'suspected terror attack', three bombs exploded in the suburbs of Tel Aviv's Bat Yam and Holon in Israel.

Three buses exploded in quick succession in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv, on Thursday night in what police said was a suspected terror attack. The incident occurred in, the Tel Aviv suburbs of Bat Yam and Holon, there were no casualties reported.

According to BBC, the police were able to find two other buses in Holon with explosives which had failed to explode at the time, they said, and added that "large police forces are at the scenes, searching for suspects".

Each of the devices contained 5 kilograms of explosives, as per a report by The Times Of Israel.

Transport Minister Miri Regev halted all buses, trains, and light rail services across the country to conduct checks for explosive devices, the BBC reported. Videos circulating online showed the vehicles engulfed in flames, with an image showing a bus completely burned, leaving only a charred frame.

Police spokesperson Aryeh Doron reportedly said that the police are still trying to locate more bombs in Tel Aviv, they alert the public to be on alert for "every suspected bag or object". "We may be lucky if indeed the terrorists set these timers to the wrong hour. But it's too early to determine," he said, as per the BBC.

Tel Aviv District Commander Haim Sargarof said, the explosive devices had similar characteristics, were non-standard explosives, and were equipped with a timer. "This appears to be something characteristic of the (occupied) West Bank," he said, reported IANS. One of the unexploded devices, weighing 5 kg, had the message reading "Revenge from Tulkarem," referencing a recent Israeli military counter-terrorism operation in the West Bank.

Defence Minister Israel Katz stated that he had directed the military to "intensify" operations in refugee camps across the West Bank.

Public transportation across the country was temporarily halted as the Transportation Ministry instructed bus drivers and train operators to stop vehicles and conduct security checks.

Following the attempted string of bus bombings, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to embark on a massive operation in the West Bank against terrorist hubs, according to his office. He also instructed the police and Shin Bet to "increase preventative activities" in Israel's cities to prevent further attacks.
