Police spokesperson Aryeh Doron reportedly said that the police are still trying to locate more bombs in Tel Aviv, they alert the public to be on alert for "every suspected bag or object". "We may be lucky if indeed the terrorists set these timers to the wrong hour. But it's too early to determine," he said, as per the BBC.
Tel Aviv District Commander Haim Sargarof said, the explosive devices had similar characteristics, were non-standard explosives, and were equipped with a timer. "This appears to be something characteristic of the (occupied) West Bank," he said, reported IANS. One of the unexploded devices, weighing 5 kg, had the message reading "Revenge from Tulkarem," referencing a recent Israeli military counter-terrorism operation in the West Bank.
Defence Minister Israel Katz stated that he had directed the military to "intensify" operations in refugee camps across the West Bank.
Public transportation across the country was temporarily halted as the Transportation Ministry instructed bus drivers and train operators to stop vehicles and conduct security checks.
Following the attempted string of bus bombings, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to embark on a massive operation in the West Bank against terrorist hubs, according to his office. He also instructed the police and Shin Bet to "increase preventative activities" in Israel's cities to prevent further attacks.
