Russia, Ukraine To Hold Negotiation Talks In Turkey Between March 28 & 30

Vladimir Medinsky, Russia's chief negotiator, stated that the next round of discussions will take place in Turkey.

New Delhi: Amidst the rising tension between Russia and Ukraine, the delegations have agreed to meet in person for the next round of discussions on March 28 and 30 in Turkey, according to David Arakhamia, a Ukrainian negotiator and lawmaker, who posted on Facebook earlier in the day, Reuters reported.

Vladimir Medinsky, Russia's chief negotiator, stated that the next round of discussions will take place in Turkey. He did say, though, that the talks will begin on Tuesday (March 29) and finish on Wednesday (March 30).

According to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the two former Soviet neighbours have reached an agreement on four of the six negotiation points: Ukraine's refusal to pursue NATO membership, the use of the Russian language in Ukraine, disarmament, and security assurances. Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine's foreign minister, claimed there was "no consensus" with Russia on important issues.

This comes as Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has accused the West of timidity and a lack of confidence in dealing with Russia.

"If only those who have been thinking for 31 days on how to hand over dozens of jets and tanks had 1% of their courage," Zelenskyy said.

Zelenskyy has been pleading with the West to give Ukraine fighter planes and tanks on a regular basis.

Alluding to the besieged city of Mariupol, which has been the target of Russian missiles, Zelenskyy said the "determination, heroism, and firmness" of the "defenders" are "astonishing," despite repeated attempts for a humanitarian corridor for the city failing due to blame-shifting between the two countries.

Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine began about a month ago, an estimated 6.5 million people have been displaced within the nation, while another 3.2 million have fled owing to safety concerns.
