Russia-Ukraine Conflict: Zelenskyy Makes Another Plea To Allies For More Firepower
“The more and the sooner we get all the weapons we have requested, the stronger our position will be and the sooner peace will come,” he added.
New Delhi: Amid escalating tensions with Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made another plea to the allies to send more firepower to boost his country’s defence efforts.
“You can make the war much shorter,” Zelenskyy said, France 24 reported.
“The more and the sooner we get all the weapons we have requested, the stronger our position will be and the sooner peace will come,” he added.
This comes as Russia has, as per US media reports, sent a formal complaint to Washington about its military support of Kyiv, Agence France-Presse reported.
Besides, Zelenskyy has also called for “the democratic world” to ban Russian oil, The Associated Press reported.
The Ukrainian President has said the existing sanctions against Moscow are painful but not enough to stop the Russian military’s ongoing assault.
Zelenskyy’s remarks came as Russia pounded a Ukrainian rocket factory following the sinking of its Black Sea flagship.
The Vizar factory, near Kyiv's international airport, was seriously damaged in the overnight strikes, according to an AFP journalist on Friday.
Russia on its part said that it had used sea-based long-range missiles to hit the plant, which Ukraine’s state weapons manufacturer says produced Neptune cruise missiles.
The projectiles, according to Kyiv and Washington, were used to sink the Moskva warship.
“There were five hits. My employee was in the office and got thrown off his feet by the blast,” AFP quoted Andrei Sizov, the owner of a nearby wood workshop, as saying.
“They are making us pay for destroying the Moskva,” the 47-year-old added.
