No-Confidence Motion Against Pak PM Imran Khan To Be Tabled Today In National Assembly

According to Dawn, the Pak National Assembly rules say that from the day the resolution is moved, it “shall not be voted upon before the expiry of three days, or later than seven days.”

New Delhi: The no-confidence motion against Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is scheduled to be tabled today in the Pakistan National Assembly. If the speaker allows, the no-confidence vote will be conducted on April 4, reported Pakistani news agency Dawn.

According to Dawn, the Pak National Assembly rules say that from the day the resolution is moved, it “shall not be voted upon before the expiry of three days, or later than seven days.”

While PM Imran Khan held a public meeting on Sunday trying to garner public support for himself, opposition leaders also said that they will take to the streets if the no-trust motion was not tabled.

The leader of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) president and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fal chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the supporters of PDM will take to the streets Monday.

Meanwhile, Pakistan National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser is also being criticised by the opposition for working in a manner that supports Imran Khan as the delay in the no-confidence motion is being seen as an attempt to buy more time to gather support for PM Khan.

Pakistan capital Islamabad will witness back-to-back protests by supporters of the current government and the opposition parties, which have now gathered the support of Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) allies.

Meanwhile, in order to secure himself from being ousted by the no-confidence vote PM Imran Khan will also table bill for the formation of south Punjab Province which was a part of his manifesto during the 2018 elections.
