Militant Quadcopter Attacks Kill Woman, Injure Three Children In Pakistan
A woman was killed and three children were injured after militants launched two quadcopter attacks in Pakistan’s Bannu district near North Waziristan.

A woman was killed and three children injured in two separate quadcopter attacks carried out by militants in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a senior police official confirmed on Thursday.
The strikes occurred on Wednesday in the Bannu district, which lies adjacent to the volatile North Waziristan region. According to District Police Officer (DPO) Saleem Abbas Kulachi, the first attack proved fatal, claiming the life of a woman and leaving three children injured, two of whom were her own.
“In the first quadcopter attack in Bannu by militants, one woman was killed while three children were injured. Two of them were the woman’s children,” Saleem Abbas Kulachi told reporters. The incident has sparked fear in the community, raising concerns about the militants' expanding capabilities.
Police Station Comes Under Fire Again
In a separate strike, militants targeted the Maryan police station, damaging solar panels installed on the rooftop. "The police personnel remained safe in the attack," said DPO Kulachi, noting that this marks the third assault on the same police station.
Fortunately, there were no injuries among officers during the latest attack.
Authorities Launch Search Operation Amid Rising Threat
Following the twin drone strikes, security forces have launched an extensive search operation to locate and apprehend those responsible. DPO Kulachi emphasised the urgency of the mission, given the escalating threat in the district.
Bannu has seen a string of violent incidents in recent months. Just days ago, gunmen opened fire at a local jirga (tribal council), killing one person and injuring three others. In a major attack in March, 16 militants were killed and five soldiers martyred after insurgents stormed the Bannu Cantonment. That confrontation also led to the deaths of 13 civilians and injuries to over 30 others, following destructive suicide blasts that collapsed parts of a mosque and a nearby residential building.
