'India Has Emerged As Education And Healthcare Hub': Jaishankar At Voices Of Global South Summit

India's sincere endeavor would be to amplify our convergences and speak with one voice on issues vital to the peace and prosperity of our societies, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said.

Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Thursday that India has emerged as a global south education and healthcare centre.

"India has emerged as a global south education and healthcare hub. Our capacity-building programmes and first-responder activities in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) situations are important expressions of this approach," Jaishankar made the remarks during a special online session during the Voices of the Global South Summit, which takes place from January 12-13.

According to the External Affairs Minister, the international solar alliance, the coalition for disaster resilient infrastructure, and now mission life, a global campaign to promote a climate-friendly lifestyle, are all evidence of our priority.

We engaged in international cooperation during Covid by supplying vaccinations to over 100 partners and medicines to over 150 countries, according to Jaishankar.

"India is ready to contribute its experiences and skills, including our game-changing digital public goods in universal identification, financial payments, direct benefit transfer, digital health, commerce, industry, and logistics," the Minister added.

"India's development programmes in 78 countries are demand-driven, transparent, empowerment-oriented, environment friendly, and consultative," he said.

Our sincere endeavor would be to amplify our convergences and speak with one voice on issues vital to the peace and prosperity of our societies, Jaishankar said.

'Helped Each Other Against Foreign Rule, Can Do It Again To Establish New World Order': PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the importance of the Global South's "equivalent voice" on the international stage on Thursday, saying that their voice is India's voice, and their goals are also India's.

PM Modi remarked virtually at the first leaders' session of 'Voice of the Global South: For Human-Centric Development,' "We helped each other in the fight against foreign rule, and we can do it again in this century to establish a new world order that would protect our citizens' well-being. Your priorities are India's priorities, and your voice is India's voice."

The Summit intends to bring together countries from the Global South on a common platform to express their perspectives and concerns.

He stated that India has always shared its development expertise with the developing world.

The meeting will be attended by up to 120 countries. One session will include ten to twenty countries, and Prime Minister will host two lead sessions.
