'Truly A Miracle': 72-Year-Old US Woman Missing For 4 Days Found At Bottom Of Canyon — Report

A 72-year-old woman in the US was rescued four days after her car fell down a ravine in the state of Idaho. Penny Kay Clark’s family reported her missing on December 5 when she didn't return from shopping, according to a New York Post report. Four days later, her car, a silver 2021 Chevy Equinox, was discovered wrecked about 200 yards down a canyon near Melba by two men, as reported by the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

The two men found Clark's identity card in the car. Afer a Facebook search, the duo found that she was a missing person. They then called the police, who later found her alive down the cliff.

Clark was found 40 feet away from the crash site. The sheriff's office collaborated with Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue to develop a plan for her rescue. Numerous other agencies were deployed to assist in the rescue operation, as per the news outlet.

After a gruelling two hours, rescue personnel reached Clark, who was found "conscious and alert". She was treated at a first responder’s post before being airlifted to a hospital for further medical attention.

"This is frankly one of the most miraculous incidents that I can recall in all my years in law enforcement, and it’s a true testament to the strength and fortitude of Penny Clark," said Canyon County Sheriff Kieran Donahue in statement.

"The medics who evaluated her on scene believe that she had been there for at least a couple of days, and more than likely since Tuesday when her family last had contact with her. It’s truly a miracle, and I’m hopeful that she makes a full recovery," he further said.

According to the statement by the authorities, Clark is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital for her injuries.
