Ex-Pakistan PM Imran Khan Urges His Supporters To 'Come Out' As Police Arrive At His Residence To Arrest Him

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has urged his supporters to "come out" as police arrive at his residence to arrest him.

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday called on his supporters to "come out" as party workers and police officials clashed outside his residence in Lahore. In a video message on Twitter, Imran said police had arrived to arrest him. "They think that after I am arrested, the nation will fall asleep. You have to prove them wrong," he said.

The PTI chairman said everyone should come out of their homes for their rights and "haqeeqi azaadi (true freedom)"

In the video, Khan said, "God has given me everything. I am fighting your fight. I've spent my whole life fighting and will continue to do so but, if something happens to me or if I'm jailed or killed then you all will have to prove that even without Imran Khan, this nation will fight and won't be a slave of these thieves."

Clash Between Party Workers And Police

Imran Khan's supporters gathered outside of his residence on Tuesday to prevent his arrest in the Toshakhana case. Police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse them.

Video footage showed police slowly making their way toward Khan's Zaman Park residence behind an armoured vehicle that was using a water cannon to disperse his supporters.

According to a top police official from Islamabad, his team arrived there to arrest the PTI chairman. Shahzad Bukhari, the Deputy Inspector General (Operations) of Islamabad was leading the police. As per reports, he got hurt. He was seen walking while being assisted by two officials. The altercation resulted in injuries to both, police officers as well as the supporters of Khan.

Khan has come under fire for purchasing gifts, including a pricey Graff wristwatch he had received as the premier at a discounted price from the state depository known as Toshakhana, and then profitably reselling them.
