New Delhi: US President Donald Trump launched yet another scathing attack on China in a press-briefing on Friday (5 June), slammed the Asian nation for failing to curb and contain the Coronavirus at its source in Wuhan, terming the novel virus as it “China’s gift to the world”.
News agency ANI quoted Trump as saying, “Covid-19 is a gift from China. Not good, they should have stopped it at the source. A very bad gift. How come, Wuhan where it started was in a very bad trouble, but it did not go to any other parts of China”.
Trump lashed out at China, stating that has taken “tremendous advantage” of the United States with the America pumping in a whopping USD 500 billion to rebuild the country, hinting that it was a naive and stupid move . Trump went on to say that now the situation is changing.
“How stupid are the people who represented our country with China and many other countries. But that's all changing,” he added.
Since the global outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, Trump has been regularly criticizing China which included calling SARS-CoV-2 as the “Chinese Virus” in retaliation to the Chinese accusing the US of being responsible for the virus’ origins.
Last month, the US President announced a spree of retaliatory measures against China in a press conference saying, “China’s pattern of misconduct is well known. For decades, they have ripped off the United States as no one has ever done before. Hundreds of billions of dollars a year were lost dealing with China, especially over the years during the prior administration.”
