As accolades poured in for India from world leaders after the Chandrayaan-3 landing module successfully toched down on the lunar surface, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar shared a photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi reading a prominent South African newspaper. Jaishankar shared the image of PM Modi with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva with the caption, "This morning at the BRICS Summit."

Later in the day, while addressing a session during the BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, PM Modi spoke on the Chandrayaan-3 mission and thanked the scientists.
"It is a matter of pride for us that this achievement is being accepted as an achievement for all of humanity...On behalf of India, its people and our scientists, I thank the scientists and the world's scientific community for their wishes on this historic moment," ANI quoted PM Modi as saying.

"Yesterday, Chandrayaan-3 made a soft landing on the southern pole of the Moon. This is not just an achievement for the Indian scientists but it is an achievement for the whole community of scientists worldwide. The area that India targetted for the landing was a place where no other country has attempted to land. Science helped us to reach a very difficult terrain. This in itself is a huge success for science and scientists," PM Modi further said.
After this summit, the Prime Minister will visit Athens in Greece on August 25.
