According to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), as many as 16 new countries have been added to Bahrain's Red List, which prevents visitors from entering unless they are Bahraini nationals or have a residency visa.
According to the Khaleej Times, the BNA said that the number of nations on the Red List has been amended following a “review of the latest recommendations of the National Medical Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (Covid-19)”.
Travellers who are exempt from the above requirement must, however, present a negative Covid-19 test report with a QR code administered within 48 hours of their departure from the beginning nations. These travellers will also be required to quarantine for ten days and undergo additional coronavirus testing upon arrival in Bahrain and on the tenth day of the quarantine period, as per The Khaleej Times.
The mandatory quarantine will apply to both vaccinated and non-vaccinated travellers from all countries except those on the Red List, according to the BNA. According to a Reuters storey, they will have to be isolated in their homes or in venues licenced for Covid-19 isolation.
The approved quarantine sites are licenced by the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) and will be available to people who have a Bahraini address - registered in their or an immediate family member's name, the Khaleej Times report stated. The rule does not apply to children under the age of six.
