The Japanese PM and his wife Akie Abe received warm hospitality and enjoyed scrumptious meal at the place of their Israeli counterparts until the blooper happened.

New Delhi: It was a foot in the mouth moment for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he unintentionally offended his guest - the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe at a dinner party at his place.   The faux pas happened when Israeli diplomacy’s most popular chef served dessert to the Japanese top brass in a shoe. A black shoe. The Japanese Prime Minister and his wife Akie Abe received warm hospitality and enjoyed scrumptious meal at the place of their Israeli counterpart until the blooper happened. As per reports, Abe was on a two-day-visit to Israel and was invited by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara Netanyahu at his place for a festive meal. The special chef Moshe Sergey reportedly served a collection of chocolates arranged inside a black shoe. This act led to an outrage amongst the Japanese diplomats who called it sheer disrespect of their strongman. Even the Israeli foreign officers reportedly condemned the act and called it an insensitive and stupid move. Given the fact that in Japanese culture shoe is a detestable object, the act was equated to serving dessert to a jew in a pig, by an Israeli newspaper. It was later stated by the chef that the shoe was not a real one but a metallic sculpture that looked like a shoe. These Instagram post by the chef met with miscellaneous response from people. While some appreciated the art in it, some dubbed the move as "idiotic".
