Afghanistan: Suicide Bomber Kills Six, Injures 13 In Kabul Attack

A suicide bomber detonated explosives in Kabul, Afghanistan, killing six people and injuring 13 others. The attack occurred in the southern Kabul area of Qala-e-Bakhtiar.

A suicide bomber detonated explosives in the Afghan capital, Kabul, on Monday, resulting in the tragic deaths of six people and injuries to 13 others, according to police reports.

Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran confirmed the incident on social media platform X, stating, "This afternoon, a person wearing explosives on his body detonated. Unfortunately, six civilians, including a woman, were killed and 13 others were injured."

The attack occurred in the southern Kabul area of Qala-e-Bakhtiar. There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing, and investigations are ongoing, Zadran added.

Violence in Afghanistan has decreased since the Taliban's takeover in 2021, which ended a two-decade war between foreign forces and the Islamic insurgents. Nevertheless, the regional branch of Islamic State, known as Islamic State Khorasan, remains active, frequently targeting civilians, foreigners, and Taliban officials with gun and bomb attacks.

3 Afghan Civilians Killed In Border Clash Between Pakistan And Afghanistan Security Forces

In August, three Afghan civilians were killed in a border clash between Pakistan and Afghanistan security forces. The clash occurred near the Torkham border crossing, after Pakistani border forces opened fire on Afghan border forces. Mufti Abdul Mateen, a spokesman for Afghanistan's interior ministry, reported that the Pakistani forces targeted civilian homes, resulting in the deaths of a woman and two children, according to news agency Reuters.

A security official, who wished to remain anonymous as he was not authorised to speak to the media, confirmed that three Pakistani paramilitary troops were wounded in the exchange, Reuters reported.

Clashes between the neighbouring security forces are common along the border, a legacy of the colonial-era demarcation which remains disputed.
