40 Crocodiles Rip Apart 72-Year-Old Farm Owner In Cambodia

A Cambodian farm owner was attacked and killed by around 40 crocodiles of his farm after he fell into the enclosure of reptiles.

In a shocking incident, around forty crocodiles killed a Cambodian farmer on Friday while he was attempting to wrangle one of his reptiles, reported New York Post. According to the police chief of Siem Reap, as reported by the website, the crocodiles pounced and attacked the man until he was dead. The gory incident has left the people on the farm in shock. The 72-year-old victim, identified as Luan Nam, had reportedly entered the enclosure so he could remove one of the crocodiles from a cage where it had laid eggs.

Things became ugly when the beast attacked the stick and made the farm owner fall into the enclosure, according to Savry as reported by New York Post. The crocodiles swarm in ripping his body apart and leaving the entire enclosure filled with blood.

Videos show dozens of reptiles leaving the paddock in blood while officials remove the man’s remains from the area. His body was covered with bite marks and he reportedly lost both arms and a leg, which the crocodiles had swallowed, reported New York Post.

His severed body was later transported to the family home.

According to a CBS report, Nam had reportedly been urged for years to quit the business. He was also president of the local crocodile farmers’ association.

Notably, farmers in Cambodia often breed and sell crocodiles to buyers in China, Thailand and Vietnam where their skin can be made into leather and other products. The reptiles are kept for their eggs, skins and meat as well as the trade in their young.

New York Post reported that Siem Reap is the second largest city in Cambodia and it is home to the Angkor Wat Buddhist temple complex, which is considered the world's largest religious structure.

In 2019, DailyMail reported, a two-year-old girl was killed and eaten by crocodiles when she wandered into her family's reptile farm in the same village.
