PM Modi Inaugurates Ethanol Plant In Panipat, Says Will Help Reduce Pollution In Haryana, Delhi
The 2G Ethanol Plant has been built by Indian Oil Corporation Limited ie IOCL at an estimated cost of more than Rs 900 crore.

New Delhi: On the occasion of World Biofuel Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday dedicated a second-generation ethanol plant worth Rs 900 cr at Panipat to the nation through video conferencing, as reported by news agency ANI. During the program, the Prime Minister said that farmers will benefit greatly from this. The stubble which was earlier a problem for the farmers will now be a source of income for them. "In our country that worships nature, biofuel is significant for protecting nature. Our farmers understand this better. Biofuel for us means green fuel that saves the environment," said PM Modi.

"Facilities for transportation of cut-out stubble are being made, new bio-fuel plants are being set up, this will provide employment & give rise to new opportunities. All villagers, farmers will be benefitted. This was also reduce challenges of pollution in the country," said PM.

The 2G Ethanol Plant has been built by Indian Oil Corporation Limited ie IOCL at an estimated cost of more than Rs 900 crore. This plant is located close to Panipat Refinery and is based on state of art indigenous technology.
"Anyone can come & announce to give free petrol and diesel if their politics is self-centred. Such steps will take away rights from our children & prevent the country from becoming self-reliant. It will increase burden on the taxpayers of the country," PM added.

Based on state-of-the-art indigenous technology, the project will open a new chapter in India's efforts to generate wealth from waste by using about two lakh tonnes of rice straw annually to produce about 30 million liters of ethanol annually.
