Who Is Satnam Pannu? Know About Farmer Leader Accused By Delhi Police Of Giving Inciting Speech Ahead Of Tractor Rally

Satnam Singh Pannu and members of his Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, a smaller group participating in the two-month protests against three farm laws, were held responsible for breaking through the first barricade and inciting others.

A day after high voltage drama and ruckus during the farmers' tractor rally on Republic Day, the Delhi police on Wednesday filed an FIR against several prominent farmer leaders, alleging them of being involved in violence and not following mutually agreed route for the tractor rally and the timing of farmers’ march. The police has accused the protestors of forcing their way into Delhi and vandalising barricades and property in the Red Fort.

The FIR had named as many as 37 farmer leaders, including BKU spokesperson Rakesh Tikait, Medha Patkar, Buta Singh, Yogendra Yadav, Darshan Pal, Rajinder Singh, Balbir Singh Rajewal, Buta Singh Burjgil, among others.

According to the reports, Satnam Singh Pannu and members of his Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, a smaller group participating in the two-month protests against three farm laws, were held responsible for breaking through the first barricade and inciting others.

However, Satnam Pannu has dissociated himself and his group from the violence. Pannu insisted that his group had nothing to do with the Red Fort violence, and named Punjabi actor and activist Deep Sidhu of instigating the clashes and planting a Sikh religious flag.

Meanwhile, Delhi authorities are now investigating CCTV footage from areas where the clashes broke out to identify the suspects. More than 300 police personnel were injured in the horrific clashes that broke out on Tuesday on the occasion of Republic Day.
