Y+ security to Kangana Ranaut: As Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut travels to Mumbai amid the tussle with Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut over her remark on why Mumbai is feeling like Pakistan occupied Kashmir, the actor becomes the first Bollywood personality to be guarded by a posse of elite commandos of CRPF after being approved of ‘Y’ level security. The authorities reviewed whether the office has been built as per the rules of the corporation. On the same day, the 'Queen' actress shared a video on Twitter alleging that the Mumbai BMC officers have forcefully taken over the office measuring everything and also harassing neighbours. It is also subjected to periodic review. In cases of high-risk individuals, police and local government provides security to the individual. What are the types of security? The security covers are divided into four categories including Z+ (highest level); Z; Y and X, which is totally dependent on the threat perception on each individual. All those individuals who come under this security blanket include cabinet ministers, chief ministers, high court and Supreme Court judges, leading politicians, and senior bureaucrats. SPG: It is to be noted that SPG is a classified security and exclusively given to the Prime Minister. Z+: This level of security requires 55 personnel to protect the individual. It is to be noted that NSG is used extensively to guard VIPs and VVIPs, especially those in the Z+ category. Many NSG personnel are seconded to SPG, which guards the Prime Minister. Z: Here 22 personnel are allotted for the security purpose. Y: In this case, 11 personnel are detained for the security of the individual. In case of Kangana Ranaut five personnel will be allotted for static duty and six personal for the security will be made available in shifts for the security, as per the Times of India report. X: In this case 2 personnel are providing security. Who are responsible to provide the security? Typically, the Special Protection Group (SPG), National Security Guards (NSG), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) are the agencies responsible for providing securities to VVIPs/VIPs/politicians/high-profile celebrities and sportspersons.
SPG commandos are usually provided for the security of the PM, former PMs and their immediate family members as part of the Z+ category of security cover. It also entails security cover by the Delhi Police or the ITBF or CRPF personnel and one escort car. How many people are provided such covers?
As per the information shared by the government in the Lok Sabha almost 300 people have been given security under different covers in the central list.
