New Delhi: Amid the large scale protests against the Citizens Amendment Act (CAA) which has take a violent turn in many part of the country, Gautam Gambhir, Member of Parliament (East Delhi), shared a video on social media in which protesters are seen hurling stones and other objects at policemen to mark their protest. The policemen are seen running helter-skelter for cover and eventually taking a defensive position to safeguard themselves from the onslaught.
Gambhir has expressed his displeasure over the manner in which the protests were conducted and lamented the otherwise vocal human rights activists and the liberals by questioning their credibility on remaining mum over the human rights of policemen, who are guardians of the law and order for the citizens.
In a tweet, Gambhir took dig at the 'so called' intellectuals by asking whether they had gone to the United Nations to seek a referendum over the human rights of policemen.
The cricketer turned politician has been quite vocal about the rights of the security forces in the country, always expressing his sentiments on social media and standing behind the interests of the defence personnel. In view of the anti-CAA protests slated to take place in Delhi, section 144 has been imposed in Najafgarh area near Dwarka on Friday. The order issued by the Assistant Commissioner of Police of subdivision Najafgarh in Dwarka district, Vijay Singh, said 'In view of the prevailing situation and protest against Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC), this issue and protest has become communally sensitive and has emotionally charged the minority Muslim community. So, it has become necessary to maintain public safety and security and law and order in the sub Division Najafgarh of Dwarka district.'I think all human rights warriors, bollywood attention seekers and pseudo liberal journalists have gone to the UN to seek a referendum on whether policemen have human rights or not.
