Here are the top three scooters which promise spirited riding without losing out on its core essence

Top Three Most Fun-To-Ride Scooters

In the past Scooters weren’t particularly known for being fun, instead, they were designed to be utilitarian and a mode of transport which would get take you from point A to B. Lately though this trend seems to have changed owing to the youthful target market which not only wants a good looking scooter but also would like the fun factor from a motorcycle. Here are the top three fun-to-ride scooters according to us which managed to deliver one of the best ride experiences we've had on a moped, starting from the bottom.

TVS Scooty Zest -

Top Three Most Fun-To-Ride Scooters

The TVS Scooty which was targeted towards the fairer sex was an instant success ever since it was launched. Its lightweight nature and nimble handling helped it zip around city traffic with ease. However, over the years the Scooty started losing out to its competition thanks to trendier looks and more powerful engines. And hence, TVS updated the Scooty to not only look bigger and better but also gave it a new heart to keep up with its competition. At its heart lies a 109.7cc, single-cylinder motor that puts out 8PS of power at 7500rpm and 8.4Nm of torque at 5500rpm. This along with its small but fatter wheels helps it get off the line a lot quicker than the previous-gen Scooty. It handles really well too. As per the company, the Scooty Zest manages a time of 0-60kmph in 11.1secs which is the best in its segment. The Zest’s lightweight body also adds to its performance and scooter tips the scale at just 97kgs.

TVS NTorq -

Top Three Most Fun-To-Ride Scooters

The TVS Ntorq has been winning hearts all over and has proved to be one of the best scooters on sale in India. Its stealth aircraft-inspired design language along with the sporty colours make it an appealing proposition. The Ntorq draws power from a 124.79cc, single-cylinder mill that churns out 9.4PS of power at 7500rpm and 10.5Nm of torque at 5500rpm. It manages to dash from 0-60kmph in just 7.65 seconds and an impressive top speed of 101kmph. This makes the scooter almost as quick as the class-leading Aprilia SR 150 and sets a new benchmark in the 125cc scooter segment. The Ntorq get telescopic forks up front and a gas charged monoshock at the rear. The suspension is set up on the firmer side but not so-much-so that the ride is uncomfortable in any way. In fact, it manages to soak up most undulations without throwing a fit. Also, the firmer suspension helps the scooter turn in pretty quickly making it a good handler overall. The TVS Remora tyres which are the widest in its segment add to its handling capability.

Aprilia SR 150 -

Top Three Most Fun-To-Ride Scooters

Last but not the least, it's time to bring out the sportiest scooter of the lot, the Aprilia SR 150. The manufacturer entered the Indian scooter market with the SR 150 which became an instant hit among younger buyers. Looking at the overwhelming response from the masses, Aprilia then introduced the SR 150 Race Edition in MotoGP inspired livery and reworked gear ratios for better acceleration. This essentially makes the Race Edition quicker than the standard variant by 0.3 seconds from the 0-60kmph run. The standard, on the other hand, takes 6.89 seconds. Powering the Aprilia is a 154.8cc engine that makes 10.5PS of power at 6750 rpm and 11.4Nm of torque at 5000rpm. The scooter comes equipped with telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. This along with its segment-leading 14-inch alloys enables the scooter to perform more like a bike in the twisties and zip through city traffic. It's the most fun per buck scooter we’ve ridden in the scooter market and we’d definitely recommend one if sprightly is what you’re looking at. Also, the newly launched Aprilia SR 150 also features a semi-digital instrument console, mobile connectivity and new colours for 2018. You can read all about it here.
