Tata Tiago NRG Launch On 12 September, Will Rival CelerioX
Besides the customary body cladding, the Tiago NRG features two major changes
Tata is gearing up to launch a cross-hatch version of the Tiago, called the Tiago NRG. A document revealing all of its details has recently surfaced online. Without further ado, let’s dive straight into what the Tiago NRG will offer and when it will go on sale in the country.

Exterior
- The Tiago NRG gets body cladding on the doors, wheel arches, tailgate and bumpers with integrated faux skid plates
- Thanks to the cladding, the NRG is 47mm longer and 18mm wider than the standard Tiago
- The cross-hatch is also 52mm taller than the standard car but that should be due to the blacked-out roof rails and the increased ground clearance, which has been raised by 15mm and now stands at 180mm
- In order to offset the effects of higher ground clearance, Tata is said to have ‘tuned’ the suspension of the Tiago NRG
- Other cosmetic updates that the Tiago NRG features include a blacked-out front grille, roof, rear spoiler, ORVMs and B-pillar. Also on offer are smoked headlamps and new dual-tone 14-inch alloys
- As per the leaked document, the Tiago NRG will be offered in three dual-tone colours: Canyon Orange, Malabar Silver and Fuji White

Interior
- On the inside, the cabin remains identical to that of the standard car save for some orange and silver highlights around the AC vents, central console and the gear lever
- The NRG’s cabin also features updated fabric seats with a denim theme (like the Duster Adventure Edition) and orange highlights
Features
-
As revealed by the document, the Tiago NRG shares its equipment list with standard Tiago. However, there is one big change. Instead of the 2-DIN Harman infotainment system, the Tiago NRG borrows the 5-inch touchscreen infotainment by Harman from the Tigor

Engine
- The Tiago NRG is equipped with the same set of petrol and diesel engines that power the standard Tiago
- The 1.2-litre petrol engine makes 85PS/114Nm while the 1.05-litre diesel motor, on the other hand, generates 70PS/140Nm
- Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed MT only, unlike the Tiago, where the petrol engine is available with an AMT as well
Launch
- The Tiago NRG will go on sale in India on 12 September
- It is expected to be available in a single variant only and is likely to be priced at a slight premium over the standard Tiago which is priced from Rs 3.35 lakh to 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)
- The Tiago NRG will rival the likes of the Ford Freestyle (Rs 5.09 lakh to Rs 7.89 lakh) and the Maruti CelerioX (Rs 4.63 lakh to Rs 5.48 lakh) (both prices, ex-showroom Delhi), which is essentially a cross-hatch version of the Maruti Celerio
