School Holidays 2025: Relief For Students! Schools To Remain Closed Till June In Many States, Full List Inside

Schools are closed till June in many states! April is packed with holidays — check the full 2025 school holiday list here.

There is good news for school students as April 2025, much like March, is set to bring a slew of holidays across various states in India. In addition to the regular Sundays, students will enjoy breaks due to several festivals and regional observances.

In Telangana, the government has announced a 3-day holiday for all government and private educational institutions from 12 to 14 April 2025. This extended weekend will come as a welcome relief for students and teachers alike.

Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh School Education Department has made a major announcement regarding the summer vacation.

According to the order issued by the Madhya Pradesh Government School Education Department, summer vacation has been declared for students from May 1 to June 15 and for teachers from May 1 to May 31. These holidays will be applicable to all private and government schools in the state simultaneously. Along with summer vacation, the government has also announced the dates of Dussehra, Diwali and winter vacations. Dussehra vacation will be from October 1 to October 3, Diwali vacation from October 18 to October 23 and winter vacation from December 31 to January 4.

State-wise School Holidays in April 2025

Schools in Punjab will remain closed on:

8 April: Shri Guru Nabha Das Ji’s Birthday

10 April: Mahavir Jayanti

13 April (Sunday): Vaisakhi

14 April: Ambedkar Jayanti

18 April: Good Friday

29 April: Lord Parshuram’s Birth Anniversary

Schools in Uttar Pradesh will observe holidays on:

10 April: Mahavir Jayanti

13 April: Baisakhi

14 April: Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti

18 April: Good Friday

Rajasthan will see school closures on:

10 April: Mahavir Jayanti

11 April: Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jayanti

13 April: Baisakhi

14 April: Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti

18 April: Good Friday

Other states will also observe holidays in April due to local festivals and national observances, with varying dates and durations.

Summer Vacations in Himachal Pradesh

This year, the summer vacation in Himachal Pradesh will be shorter than before:

This time the summer vacation in the schools of Himachal Pradesh will be of 32 days from 12 July to 12 August. Earlier it used to be of 38 days from 22 June to 29 July. 4 holidays of April have been stopped, instead summer break will be from 1 to 8 June. Winter break will be from 1 to 8 January.

In specific regions: Nalagarh, Fatehpur, Nagarota Surian, Indora, Paonta Sahib, Kala Amb, and Una will have summer vacation from 1 to 30 June and monsoon break from 3 to 12 August.

Kullu district schools (summer and winter closing) will observe:

Monsoon break: 20 July to 12 August

Winter break: 1 to 14 January

Dussehra break: 8 days

Diwali break: 4 days

For Winter Vacation Schools, the winter break will be from 1 January to 11 February, while the monsoon break will last from 7 to 12 August. Diwali holidays will be given for 4 days.
