Puducherry | Woman Minister Among Five Ministers Inducted Into NDA Cabinet

Two ministers are from BJP and three are from All India NR Congress have been inducted into the first NDA cabinet in Puducherry

Puducherry: Five MLAs in the ruling coalition government led by Chief Minister N Rangaswamy sworn-in as ministers in Puducherry on Sunday. Two ministers are from BJP and three are from All India NR Congress have been inducted into the first NDA cabinet in Puducherry. The ministers are sworn in only after two months after Rangaswamy became chief minister of the state.  This is the first time the saffron party is part of a Ministry in the Union Territory.

This is also the first time that a woman — AINRC legislator Chandira Priyanga — was given a ministerial status in the Puducherry cabinet in over four decades.

Rangasamy, among others, was present at the swearing-in ceremony.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended best wishes to all those who took oath as ministers. "May this teamwork with determination and fulfill the aspirations of the wonderful people of Puducherry," he wrote on Twitter.
