Mira Road Sees Tension Between 2 Groups Ahead Of Ayodhya Event, Cops Arrest 5

Mumbai's Mira Road witnessed tension on Sunday night after an argument broke out between two communities hours ahead of the Ram temple inauguration at Ayodhya.

The police have arrested five people and lodged a case after tension erupted on Sunday night between two communities ahead of Ayodhya Ram Temple's inauguration. The police reached the spot immediately upon being informed and the situation was brought under control. 

DCP Jayant Bajbale told ANI, "At around 11 pm yesterday, some people of the Hindu community were raising slogans in 3-4 vehicles in the Naya Nagar area of Mira Road adjacent to Mumbai. After this, an argument started with some people belonging to the Muslim community. Seeing the deteriorating situation, the police vehicle immediately reached the spot and took some people into custody. The situation has been brought under control and a flag march was conducted in the area. Naya Nagar Police has registered a case against 5 people, arrested them and has started investigating the matter"

According to a report in the news agency PTI, the incident occurred at around 10.30 pm on Sunday when a group of 10 to 12 people in three cars and on as many motorcycles were carrying out a rally from Naya Nagar under Mira Bhayandar police jurisdiction and chanted slogans in praise of Lord Ram, ahead of the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.

They allegedly chanted slogans and set off firecrackers following which a group of locals came out with wooden sticks. An argument broke out following this the participants and attacked their vehicles were alleged, the report said.

However, the police swiftly sprang into action and dispersed the crowd and heavy police deployment was in place to ensure that the situation didn't escalate.

Ram Lalla's consecration ceremony was completed today at the newly constructed temple in Ayodhya. The grand event wa graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who participated in the cermony and also addressed the people who gathered to witness the grand event. The invitees included top political leaders, spiritual gurus and Bollywood A-listers as well as sports persons.
