Many False Things Shown In 'The Kashmir Files' Movie: Former J&K CM Omar Abdullah

Reacting on the movie, which attempts to show 1991 Kashmiri Pandit exodus, Omar claimed that Farooq Abdullah was not the CM at that time, contrary to the film which showed an NC government.

New Delhi: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference working President Omar Abdullah, on Friday, slammed filmmakers of the movie The Kashmir Files saying that it shows “many false things.”

Reacting on the movie, which attempts to show 1991 Kashmiri Pandit exodus, Omar pointed out that Farooq Abdullah was not the Chief Minister at that time, contrary to the film which showed an NC government, he claimed. Rather Governor rule was imposed in the state, he added. Omar further said that BJP backed VP Singh’s Government was in the Centre during that time.

“Many false things have been shown in 'The Kashmir Files' movie. During that time Farooq Abdullah was not J&K's CM but Governor rule was there. VP Singh's govt was there in the country which was backed by BJP,” said Omar Abdullah while talking to media on the sidelines of a rally in the Kulgam district of South Kashmir.

The NC working president also questioned the film’s genre saying that if the film was not a documentary then there would have been no problem but the filmmakers have themselves said that the movie was based on reality, reported News18.

Omar Abdullah further said that it was not only Kashmiri Pandits who had migrated and had been killed during that time but Muslims and Sikhs too had faced the brunt. “Muslims and Sikhs have also migrated from Kashmir and they haven’t returned yet,” he said, stated the above mentioned News18 report.

Meanwhile, film’s director Vivek Agnihotri has been provided with ‘Y’ category security.
