J&K: Police Inspector With Anti-Corruption Bureau Gets Shot, Injured In Srinagar
The Police Inspector sustained injuries on the neck and his condition is said to be stable.
New Delhi: A police inspector with the Anti-Corruption Bureau was shot and injured in Batamaloo area of Srinagar on Monday, confirmed the police, reports news agency ANI. Following the assault on the police inspector, security forces cordoned off the area.
“Terrorists fired upon police Inspector Sheikh Firdous of Batamaloo while he was returning from mosque after offering prayers. He was shifted to the hospital where his condition is stated to be stable,” said the J&K Police.

Earlier this month, the armed forces neutralised two militants associated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF) which are known to be terror outfits.
The police had also recovered two pistols among other incriminating materials after the encounter. The encounter took place in Srinagar’s Zakura area on Saturday.
One of them was identified as Ikhlaq Hajam who was reported to be involved in the killing of HC Ali Mohammad Gannie at Hassanpora, Anantnag. Head Constable Gannie was shot at by the suspected militants on January 29 and later succumbed to the injuries on his way to the hospital.
