J&K: 2 Mysterious Blasts In Parked Buses In Udhampur In 8 Hours, 2 Injured

The intensity of the blast was such that the roof of the bus got damaged, while window panes of several nearby vehicles were also damaged.

New Delhi: Two people were reported injured after a mysterious blast occurred in a parked bus in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Wednesday, reported news agency PTI quoting its sources as saying. Another similar blast in a bus at the old bus stand took place in the district eight hours later. However, there was no damage in the second blast.

"Two IED blasts have taken place; one at 10:30pm last night & the other one at 6am, both in an empty bus. Both blasts have a certain similarity. It is likely that they are sticky bombs, but we cannot say that for sure," said  Additional Director General of Police Jammu, Mukesh Singh. 

The empty bus was stationed near a petrol pump in the city's Domali chowk after its routine day service when the blast took place at around 10:30 pm, as reported by the news agency. 

Following the second blast, Army bomb disposal squad and officers as well as dog squad reached the spot for investigation, reported news agency ANI.

Two persons were injured in the blast who were then admitted to the district hospital. 

Police and personnel of other agencies reached the spot after the incident.

A purported CCTV footage of the blast went viral on social media.

Another similar incident of a blast in a parked bus was reported almost eight hours later at 6 am on Thursday. However no damage was reported in the second blast, sources told ABP News. 

Following the incident, all the security agencies were put on alert.

An explosion took place near a petrol pump at Domel Chowk in Udhampur at around 10.30 pm on Wednesday night. Two people got minor injuries in the incident. Similarly, at around six o'clock this morning, there was another explosion in a bus parked at the old bus stand. However, there is no report of any casualty in this, said Jammu Additional Director General of Police, reported ABP News. 

He said that the investigation was underway and at present it will not be appropriate to say anything about this blast.

Meanwhile, locals, led by Congress Counselor Preeti Khajuria protested against the administration in the wake of the two blasts that happened in Udhampur within a span of eight hours.
