IndiGo's Jabalpur-Hyderabad Flight Diverted To Nagpur After Bomb Threat

An IndiGo flight from Jabalpur to Hyderabad was diverted to Nagpur due to a bomb threat message. Passengers were disembarked and security checks were conducted, but nothing suspicious was found.

An IndiGo flight en route to Hyderabad was diverted to Nagpur in Maharashtra on Sunday following a bomb threat message on board the aircraft. Indigo flight 6E 7308 was operating from Jabalpur In Madhya Pradesh to Hyderabad In Telangana. 

Upon landing at Nagpur International Airport, all passengers were disembarked, and mandatory security checks were promptly initiated, the airline said in a statement. 

The airline further apologised, saying, “Passengers were provided with assistance and refreshments, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.”

According to police, the bomb threat message was written on a piece of paper, which was found in the bathroom of the aircraft. However, when the aircraft was thoroughly checked by security agencies after landing, nothing suspicious was found.

As per a report by news agency PTI, the flight was expected to resume its journey at 2 pm.

In recent times, hoax bomb threats to airports, schools and hospitals have increased. On August 30, a school in Bengaluru received a bomb threat email leading the police to conduct a thorough check. The email was sent to The Indian Public School, located opposite Manyata Tech Park in Nagawara.

Later on August 22, a full emergency was declared at Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram airport after an Air India flight arriving from Mumbai received a bomb threat. There were 135 passengers on board the plane.

Before that, 41 airports across India including those in Jaipur, Chennai and Varanasi received bomb threats over emails on June 18, leading to extensive anti-sabotage checks that lasted for hours. Later, all the threats were found to be hoaxes.
