Rakesh Pal, the 25th Director General of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), breathed his last in Chennai on Sunday after suffering a cardiac arrest at the age of 58. Rakesh Pal experienced uneasiness and was rushed to Rajeev Gandhi Government Hospital, where he received treatment. Despite efforts, he could not be saved.

• Longstanding Service: Pal joined the Indian Coast Guard in January 1989, marking the beginning of a distinguished career that spanned over 34 years. He held several pivotal roles, contributing to the growth and effectiveness of the ICG.
• Professional Specialisation: He underwent advanced training in gunnery and weapons systems at the Indian Naval School Dronacharya, Kochi, and completed an Electro-Optics Fire Control Solution course in the United Kingdom.
