Is Suvendu Adhikari Eyeing For Bigger Role In Bengal? All About His Meeting With BJP Top Brass In Delhi
Suvendu Adhikari met Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discussed several political issues related to West Bengal.
New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, met the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) top brass, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the national capital to discuss various issues concerning the state.
The move assumes significance as the BJP, which was trounced by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the recent assembly polls, is yet to do a formal introspection of what went wrong in their campaign in West Bengal.

Adhikari, who defeated the Chief Minister from Nandigram in a closely fought battle, seems to be eyeing for a bigger role in the West Bengal BJP as the saffron party reworks its strategy to counter the ruling TMC in the state, especially in the wake of the post-poll violence.
Earlier on Wednesday, Adhikari met Prime Minister Modi and discussed several political issues related to the state.
“Blessed to meet the Honourable PM Shri @narendramodi Ji. I thank him for his precious time spared for me. Detailed discussion took place for almost 45 minutes regarding Bengal and several other political issues. Sought his support and guidance for the development of West Bengal,” he tweeted after the meeting.
Prime Minister Modi also tweeted about the same and tagged a picture of the meeting.
“Met the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Shri Suvendu Adhikari,” he posted.

Adhikari had earlier met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president J.P. Nadda.
"Shri @SuvenduWB ji called on Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah ji,” Office of Amit Shah tweeted with a picture of the Union Home Minister and Adhikari.
Adhikari also met Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and “discussed the rampant corruption prevalent in the execution of MGNREGA in Bengal”.
“It was a pleasure to meet Honourable Union Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar Ji. Discussed the rampant corruption prevalent in the execution of MGNREGA in Bengal. He has assured me that my grievances will be taken care off. @nstomar,” he tweeted.
This was Adhikari’s first meeting with the BJP top brass after becoming the leader of opposition in the West Bengal Assembly. This comes as West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh had earlier on Tuesday chaired a meeting at the party office in Kolkata.
Senior BJP leader Mukul Roy, however, was not present in the meeting attended by office bearers, zonal observers and morcha chiefs.
