The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed Vedanta's petition challenging the Madras High Court's order directing the closure of the Sterlite Copper Smelting unit at Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu. The court found that repeated violations by Vedanta justified the closure of the unit. Read more

The Kerala High Court in a recent order dismissed the petitions challenging the condition by Travancore Devaswom Board barring non-Malayali Bhramins from being appointed as the chief priests of Sabarimala-Malikappuram temples. HC Pulls Up Haryana Govt For 182 Days Parole In 2 Yrs To Gurmeet Ram Rahim, Stays Further Grant
The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday pulled up the Haryana Government for granting parole for 91 days each in 2022 as well as 2023 to self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim. The high court asked the Haryana government to file an affidavit with details of how many persons having such criminal antecedents and sentenced in three cases have been granted this benefit. Why SC Sent Contempt Notice To Ramdev's Patanjali — All You Need To Know About IMA's Case
The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued a show cause notice to Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurveda and its Managing Director Acharya Balakrishna for causing contempt over running misleading advertisements despite an undertaking to the top court. The court took a prima facie view and said that the company has violated the November 2023 order by the apex court and its own undertaking by carrying out misleading advertisements about curing diseases that fall under the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act 1954. The top court also pulled up the Centre for not taking any action against Ramdev and his company. Read more
