The IMD has also cautioned that isolated heavy rainfall is likely to affect Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal from October 30 to November 2, and Kerala & Mahe from November 1 to 3.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across several southern states from October 30 to November 2, due to cyclonic circulations in the region. The IMD’s latest press release indicates the presence of two cyclonic circulations: one over the Gulf of Mannar, extending up to 2.1 km above mean sea level, and another over the southwest Bay of Bengal, off the south Andhra Pradesh coast, between 1.5 and 3.1 km above sea level.

According to the IMD, light to moderate rain along with isolated thunderstorms and lightning is expected over Kerala & Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, and Karnataka between October 30 and November 2. Rain is also likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Telangana on October 30, and over Rayalaseema on October 30 and 31.

The IMD has also cautioned that isolated heavy rainfall is likely to affect Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal from October 30 to November 2, and Kerala & Mahe from November 1 to 3. South Interior Karnataka is also expected to receive isolated heavy showers on October 31 and November 1.

As per the Regional Meteorological Centre's (RMC) forecast of heavy rains in Chennai on Wednesday, several places received rainfall resulting in waterlogging in some places.

The RMC predicts a “partly cloudy sky with moderate to heavy rain” and has indicated that wet spells are expected until November 5.

Specific districts in Tamil Nadu likely to experience heavy downpours include Dindigul, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Karur, Namakkal, Salem, Erode, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, and Perambalur.
