WATCH | India Successfully Test-Fires BrahMos Supersonic Cruise Missile Off Odisha Coast

The missile was test-fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) launch pad-III at Chandipur around 10.45 a.m., PTI reported a source at the DRDO as saying.

New Delhi: India on Thursday successfully test-fired a new version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur off the coast of Odisha.

“BrahMos Missile was successfully test fired from ITR, Chandipur today. The mission validated many new indigenous systems successfully demonstrating enhanced capabilities. #MakeinIndia @DefenceMinIndia @BrahmosMissile @SpokespersonMoD #AtmaNirbharBharat,” the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) tweeted.

The missile was test-fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) launch pad-III at Chandipur around 10.45 a.m., PTI reported, quoting a source at the DRDO.

The missile was equipped with new technological developments, which were successfully proven.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh complimented BrahMos, DRDO teams and the industry for the successful flight test.

Dr G. Satheesh Reddy, Department of Defence R&D Secretary and DRDO Chairman, appreciated the scientists and engineers for continuously putting efforts to maximise the weapon systems efficiency, ANI reported.

Earlier, on January 11, the DRDO successfully flight tested the final deliverable configuration of Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) from INS Vishakhapatnam off the western coast.

“The present test was to prove the consistent performance for the minimum range. All the mission objectives were met,” the Ministry of Defence said in a release.

“The missile has miniaturised infrared imaging seeker and advanced avionics for on-board control and guidance. The missile performance has been proven for the maximum range in earlier test trials,” the ministry added.

The ministry said the indigenously developed anti-tank missile is a low weight, fire-and-forget missile and is launched from a man portable launcher, integrated with thermal sight.

“The missile impacted the designated target and destroyed it,” the ministry added.
