Vijay Diwas 2021: PM Modi Reaches National War Memorial, Pays Tribute To Martyrs Of 1971 War

Vijay Diwas 2021: PM Modi reached the National war memorial to pay homage to martyrs of 1971 war.

Vijay Diwas 2021: PM Modi arrived at the National War Memorial on Thursday on the occasion of the 'Swarnim Vijay Parv' of the 1971 War where he paid tribute to the martyrs of the 1971 war. PM Modi paid homage to the soldiers martyred in the war and also took part in the welcome and felicitation event of 'Swarnim Vijay Mashaal' here. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

PM Modi had lit four 'Swarnim Vijay Mashaal' on the same day last year. According to information received from the PMO, these torches will be taken to different parts of the country. These include villages of soldiers of the 1971 war who won the Param Vir Chakra and Mahavir Chakra.

The Torches Will Be Merged As A Flame

It is being reported that during this tribute ceremony these torches will be merged as a flame. PM Modi had tweeted this morning that, "On the 50th Vijay Diwas, I recall the great valour and sacrifice by the Muktijoddhas, Biranganas, and Bravehearts of the Indian Armed Forces. Together, we fought and defeated oppressive forces. Rashtrapati Ji’s presence in Dhaka is of special significance to every Indian.”

We Are Proud Of Our Armed Forces And Their Achievements- Rajnath Singh

Speaking on the occasion, Rajnath Singh said, “On the event of Swarnim Vijay Diwas, we remember the courage and sacrifice of our armed forces during the 1971 war. The 1971 war is a golden chapter in the history of India's armed forces. We are proud of our armed forces and their achievements.”

Om Birla Remembers Martyrs

Speaking on the occasion, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla wrote on Koo App that “India's armed forces personnel are an example of determination and devotion. All those who were faced with their strong determination and grit had to kneel down in front of them. The country proudly congratulates the soldiers and their families. The nation will always be indebted to them for their services. Jai Hind!!!"

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat also wrote, "Congratulations and best wishes to all the true Indians on Vijay Diwas dedicated to India's victory over Pakistan on December 16, 1971. A salute to our brave soldiers who played an essential role in shaping a history that one can be proud of. Jai Hind!”
