Uttarakhand Receives Light Snowfall In High-Altitude Regions, Rain In Lower Parts — WATCH

High-altitude regions of Uttarakhand have received snowfall as rain lashed the lower regions.

The higher ranges of the Himalayas received snowfall since last evening after it rained in the lower regions of Dharchula in Uttarakhand. In a video shared by ANI, the ground is seen partially covered in snow. 

The weather department had predicted, very light to light rain and snowfall at isolated places in higher reaches of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand. It also said that dry weather was likely to prevail in the remaining districts of Uttarakhand. Very light snowfall was predicted in isolated places with a height of 3500 metres and above.

For the rest of the week, the MeT department stated that it was likely going to be dry in various districts of Uttarakhand. 

Parts of Jammu and Kashmir also received snowfall on Tuesday, "Generally cloudy with possibility of light to moderate rain/snowfall (1-2 inches over middle and higher reaches)", the weather department stated on Tuesday, according to IANS

"No snow in the plains. On November 2 and 3 it is partly to generally cloudy. Light rain/snow may occur at isolated places, although chances are less", it added. 

"On November 5-8th Cloudy with scattered light to moderate rain/snowfall over middle and higher reaches, Forecast of Heavy Snowfall.

"Snowfall and low temperature may lead to temporary disruption of surface transportation, mainly over Zojila, Sinthan Top, Mughal road, etc. during November 5 to November 7," the MeT office statement said.

Gulmarg recorded zero degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature, while Srinagar and Leh had 7.6 and 0.1 as the minimum temperature respectively.
