US Deputy Secretary Of State Meets EAM S. Jaishankar in Delhi
Earlier in the day, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla held consultations with the US Deputy Secretary of State on taking forward the strategic partnership.
New Delhi: Visiting US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman met External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar in the national capital on Wednesday during which they discussed ties between Washington and New Delhi.
“Glad to meet US @DeputySecState Wendy Sherman today. A good conversation on our relationship, its significance and its growth. Appreciated the successful visit of PM @narendramodi to the US and the Quad Leaders’ Summit,” Dr Jaishankar tweeted.

Earlier in the day, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla held consultations with the US Deputy Secretary of State on taking forward the strategic partnership.
They discussed issues of regional interest, particularly the evolving situation in Afghanistan post the Taliban taking control of the nation.
The Foreign Secretary and the US Deputy Secretary of State reiterated commitment for a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region, including through continued cooperation under the Quad.
They also took stock of bilateral issues, including security and defence, economic, climate and clean energy and people to people linkages.
The two also discussed the Covid-19 pandemic.

The US Deputy Secretary of State, who is on a three-day visit to India, is also expected to call on National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
“Deputy Secretary Sherman’s visit will be a useful opportunity to continue the regular dialogue and further strengthen the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a release earlier.
