Centre Ready To Take Hard Security Measures Against Targeted Killings Of Minorities In Kashmir: Report
The hand of local fronts of Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) is expected to be behind the killings of innocent civilians.
New Delhi: The Union government is ready to take some hard security measures in order to counter the targeted killings of minorities in the valley of Kashmir, Hindustan Times reported. In the past week, seven innocent civilians were killed. Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Police had said that around 28 civilians have been killed by the militants this year. The hand of local fronts of Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) is expected to be behind the killings of innocent civilians.
According to the report, a total of 4 counter-terror and intelligence teams from intelligence agencies and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been instructed to eliminate the security threat in the valley. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) along with the Border Security Forces (BSF) has been instructed to prevent any sort of infiltration attempts from across the border.
Earlier on Friday, in an encounter at the Natipora area in Sringara, Jammu and Kashmir police had killed Aqib Bashir, a LeT terrorist from Shopian. After the encounter, an AK-47 assault rifle along with two magazines was recovered from the slain militant's body. However, during the encounter, another militant expected to be a Pakistani national was able to escape from the clutches of J-K police.
Recently, two teachers were killed in a terrorist attack at a government school in the Eidgah area of Srinagar. Amongst the slain teachers was the principal of the school, Supinder Kaur, and a Kashmiri Pandit teacher, Deepak Chand.
The three local modules of the local front of LeT, known as The Resistance Force (TRF), are operating from Srinagar and are targeting innocent civilians, a senior official of J-K Police informed HT. The official further confirms the involvement of a Pakistani national who is actively guiding the targeted attacks against the minorities in the valley.
Previously, a businessman was killed by terrorists in Srinagar on Tuesday evening. The incident took place near Iqbal Park in Srinagar where terrorists fired upon the owner of Bindroo Medicate namely, Makhan Lal Bindroo, a Kashmiri Pandit. He was shifted to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
